  • DONNIE BOWERS

    Director of Youth Ministry

    Donnie Bowers calls San Angelo “home” and attended Sierra Vista UMC during elementary school. He is a Central High School graduate and is finishing a degree at Angelo State University. He and his wife, Maddie, married in December 2022, are actively involved in the community and brings energy, love and compassion to Sierra Vista's Youth program. Donnie has volunteered and worked in a number of ministries in San Angelo and had the privilege to plant and grow Wyldlife, an outreach ministry for middle schoolers through Young Life.  

  • ANN DODGEN

    administrative asst. & facilities managment

    Ann joined Sierra Vista UMC in 1992 and volunteered in various areas of ministry including the UMYF program. In 2000, after retiring from teaching, she was hired as the Church Secretary. In 2004, Ann's job was changed to Administrative Assistant. In 2014, the job of Facilities Manager was added. Ann is also in charge of the facility calendar as well as church publications.

    Director of communications

    Riley has been at Sierra Vista for his whole life. Back in 2019, while he was going to high school, Riley started out as an A/V assistant for the church. A few years later, while going to Angelo State University, Riley found even more of a passion for audio and video production. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree from Angelo State University in 2024, Riley accepted the newly created position of Director of Communications.


    Riley is assisted by Mykynna Bozeman, an Angelo State University Senior pursuing a degree in Mass Media, Caden Dover, a longtime Sierra Vista member who is also pursuing a degree in Mass Media at Angelo State University, and Blake Robertson, a tech savvy waiter who splits his time between Sierra Vista and a local restaurant: Peasant Village.


  • JENNIFER HEDGES

    nursery coordinator

    Jennifer has a long history with Sierra Vista and became the Nursery Coordinator in 2017. She has a BS in Elementary Education and an MA in Counseling. She has worked with children of all ages throughout her life. She and her husband have 5 children ranging in age from 1 to 22.

  • TRACY HERRINGTON

    Children's Development Center, Director

    Tracy's passion for early childhood and education began over 30 years ago. Her family is fortunate enough to call Sierra Vista UMC home and has been with Sierra Vista Child Development Center for over 20 years. First as a parent, she saw the tremendous benefits of this faith-based, academic foundational program. Tracy has also taught for the program for six years and became the director in 2014. 

  • NANCY KNIGHT

    discipleship

    Nancy and her husband, Ron, have been members of Sierra Vista UMC since 1978. Nancy has served as the Director of Discipleship Ministries since 2008 and finds her job is to help people get connected to a small group or a ministry within the church so that they can develop a closer relationship with and within the body of Christ.

  • TROI MIDDLETON

    Troi and her husband Dale became members in 1990. She began working at Sierra Vista in June 2016 as the Administrative Aide to the pastors after retiring from Angelo State University. Troi is a member of the Sanctuary Choir and The Light Sunday School Class. Her hobbies include playing tennis and Mahjongg and enjoying pool time with Dale in their backyard. She also volunteers with the local Safe Kids Coalition helping with children’s car seat installations and child safety. She and Dale are blessed with 4 grandchildren (Layne, Kylie, Taryn and Caitlin McCrea).

  • MARGOT PORTERFIELD

    Director of connection and care

    Margot Porterfield comes most recently from Corpus Christi, Texas, but she is originally from San Antonio, Texas where she earned her degree in Human Resource Management at UTSA; she worked in Human Resources for many years. She also managed circulation for a local newspaper in Buda, Texas while her kids were young. One of her favorite places to work was Mid-Coast Family Services, a non-profit organization that serves the homeless, battered women, and at-risk students in Victoria, Texas. She was also fortunate to spend some time being an at-home mom while her kids were in school. She is also an exercise enthusiast and has recently been certified as a personal trainer. Margot has been married to her husband Mark for 38 years and has served at his side in his role as pastor in several United Methodist churches throughout their marriage. 


    Margot has a heart for God and a love for people. She is excited to be a part of such a vibrant community of believers at Sierra Vista and looks forward to meeting and getting to know as many of her new family as possible. Margot and Mark have two married daughters. One is a vocalist and composer in Pennsylvania and the other is a speech-language pathologist San Angelo, Texas. Mark and Margot also have 3 young grandchildren.

  • MARK PORTERFIELD

    Associate Pastor

    Pastor Mark was born in Victoria, Texas and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from UT Austin with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering. He attended Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.


    He began his pastoral ministry as an associate at Westlake United Methodist Church and Manchaca United Church. He served as the Senior Pastor of Buda United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church Portland, Port Lavaca United Methodist Church, Canyon Lake United Methodist Church and comes to us after 5 years of service at Grace United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi. 

    In 1986, Pastor Mark married Margot, our current Director of Connection and Care Ministries. Margot and Mark have two married daughters. One is a vocalist and composer in Pennsylvania and the other is a speech-language pathologist San Angelo, Texas. Mark and Margot also have 3 young grandchildren.

     

    Mark has a heart for Christian outreach through mission and teaching, preaching and prayer. He and Margot lead an annual home building project in The Rio Grande Valley that gifts a home to an economically challenged family.



  • ERIC POSADA

    Director, Music Ministries

    Eric Posada is Director of Choral Activities at Angelo State University. Previous academic appointments for Dr. Posada include Visiting Professor of Choral Music at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Director of Choral Music at Tyler Junior College, and Associate Director of Choral Activities at Texas A&M University. Moreover, 2021 marks Posada’s fifteenth year serving as Director of Music in liturgical settings and eighth year in the United Methodist Church. His son, Logan Rawl, was baptized at First United Methodist Church Paris, Texas. Eric perennially strives to enhance worship and directly impact lives in every moment. His prayer is “Lord, make me an instrument”.

  • TAMARA STREHLI

    associate pastor

    Tamara came to be at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church in December of 2013. Her primary roles at the church include leading the Saturday 5:30pm worship service, teaching and facilitating small groups, and providing support to Sierra Vista's mission and outreach ministries. Tamara feels called to provide opportunities for people to experience the transforming power of God's love expressed in and through Jesus Christ and empowering them to live out that love authentically in their lives. She and her husband, Ben, enjoy hiking, cooking, and spending time at the beach together. 

  • DONNA TALLAS

    financial officer

    Donna Tallas is the Financial Director of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. She has been employed by the Church since 1986. Donna is responsible for receiving donations to the Church, as well as for accounts payable. She and her husband are blessed with a daughter, a son, their spouses, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Donna's hobbies include playing the piano and crocheting.

  • KYLE TOOMIRE

    Senior PAstor

    Kyle Toomire was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin. Kyle began his ministry over twenty-five years ago when he began working with youth at First United Methodist Church of Austin, Texas. He went on to be the founding pastor of The Journey United Methodist Church in Kyle, Texas. He has served most recently at Bandera United Methodist Church in Bandera, Texas. He and his wife, Rachael, have been blessed with two amazing sons – Elias (16yrs) and Micah (13yrs). Kyle and his family are so excited to see what God has in store for the beautiful city of San Angelo and the amazing church community of Sierra Vista!

  • MADISON WOEHL

    director of children & family ministries

    Madison and her husband A.J. became members in 2011. Along with her husband and two daughters, Cambri (2 years) and Straten (6 years), Madison strives to create and nurture a welcoming and loving environment for all families at Sierra Vista. An alumni of Angelo State University, Madison is well acquainted with San Angelo and the community. Her grandparents were educators for San Angelo Independent School District as well as her parents for various school districts. Madison’s heart for kids ministry is full of love, imagination, and endless energy. Her goal for any kid that comes to Sierra Vista is for them to know how much they are loved, valued, and cherished.
