Dear Sierra Vista family,
Change comes into everyone’s
lives…sometimes very quickly and unexpectedly! Tim, Caitlin, and I came here 3
years ago from East Texas. We
have been lovingly supported by this congregation as I served as Children’s
Director, Caitlin grew into a beautiful young lady, and Tim completed training
to become a Peace Officer. During
our time here, we have enjoyed San Angelo and all of the friends we have made.
However, we have missed out on much with our family in East Texas.
We made the decision that we would be open to God’s will in our lives,
as Tim applied for law enforcement positions here, as well as in East Texas.
Little did we know that in the course of our 1 week “vacation”, Tim
would be interviewed and offered a Police Officer position for the city of
Pittsburg, Texas. After
much prayer, discussion, tears, and nervous nights, we decided that although
this would mean a very quick move for us, it would ultimately bring us back to
our family in East Texas.
So, it is with a myriad of
emotions that I must resign my position as Children’s Director here at Sierra
Vista. My last Sunday
will be August 17th. I
know this is very sudden, however they need Tim to start on August 22nd, and
Caitlin will need to start school in Gilmer on the 25th.
I would not have chosen to
leave Sierra Vista so quickly.
There is more I wanted to do and people that I will not get to hug before
I go. However, God
obviously has big plans for us and I know He will guide us all through this
transition.
I can’t tell you how much
you all mean to me and how great of a support you have been to me and my family.
To “my kids”…you are all
such special people. I
have enjoyed our time together – watching you grow as Christians and as
individuals. Guiding
you here at church has been a joy, and I will always cherish my memories of you.
I will be back to visit, and I will let you know my new address so we can
keep in touch. I love
you all and will be thinking of you and praying for you as you grow into young
people of faith.
May God bless and keep you
all,
Jana

Our
Mission Explorers have been busy this summer!
They have delivered meals to elderly homebound people, served at the
Wesley Soup Kitchen, learned safety information at the Goodfellow AFB Fire
Department, visited the Concho Valley Food Bank, and will be wrapping up the
summer serving at the Rainbow Room. At
the Rainbow Room they will also present the check from the Vacation Bible School
penny push for over $750! This group
of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders have experienced and learned much this summer.
They were all excellent representatives of Sierra Vista, demonstrating
Christ’s loving spirit to others.
"GO,
GO JONAH"

“GO,
GO JONAH!” A GREAT SUCCESS!
The
children’s choir shared the story of Jonah through song and drama during all
three Worship services on April 26th & 27th.
The children did such a wonderful job presenting the musical!
They should all be very proud of their ability to share the message of
God’s great love for us with others.
Special
thanks go to all of the volunteers who helped with the children, music, props,
sound, and pictures.
Parents:
DVD’s of the 11:00 a.m. Worship service are available in the church
office!

VACATION
BIBLE SCHOOL THANKS
“BEACH PARTY
- SURFIN' THROUGH THE SCRIPTURES!"
What
a busy time we have had at Sierra Vista! Over
160 kids and about 100 youth and adult volunteers came each day from June 9-12
to enjoy Vacation Bible School! Then
we wrapped up the week with a Luau! I
cannot begin to express my thanks to all of you who gave your time and special
gifts for the children. Kids came
from all over to enjoy “Beach Party” here at Sierra Vista.
A grandmother told me, as she was registering her out of town grandson,
that he has talked about Vacation Bible School since last year, and could not
wait to come this year. What an
outreach! This one week impacts
children greatly, and it could not have happened without all of the adult and
youth volunteers. Hours and hours of
individual efforts produced a wonderful experience for all. You have made a
special mark on the lives of the children, as well as the youth and adults you
worked with. I truly appreciate all
of the help that was so freely given. Children
are the future of our world and our church, and as the saying goes “The best
thing to spend on children is time”. What
a special congregation Sierra Vista has…blessings to you all.

God’s Love, Jana

Ms.
Jana says...
What a time we had at “Peace
Talks” summer camp at Mt. Wesley! Fifteen
kids and three brave adults attended children’s camps in June.
Favorite activities included swimming, cabin time, worship/singing,
hiking to the Bolivian Cross, gutter sundaes and s’mores!
Many kids were able to attend camp because of the scholarship money
available from the Burrito Breakfasts held throughout the year.
Thanks for supporting the children in their faith walk!
Summer camp is an unforgettable experience that the children and adults
will carry with them always.
