WELCOME!!

Sierra Vista is a congregation that feels strongly about being a warm and welcoming community of faith.  Sierra Vista is made up of people of all ages and backgrounds who are gathered together for the purposes of growing as disciples of Jesus Christ and serving others.

Sierra Vista is open to new friends of all kinds:

  •  those who have a membership in another United Methodist congregation or a church of another denomination who are looking for a new church home

  • those who have a church background, but who have not been active in church for a long time or have not been to church for a while

  • those who do not really have a church background, but who are interested in learning more about Christianity and the life of the church

Come join with us as we seek to grow together in our journey of faith.

WELCOME TO REV. DR. STEVEN AND ROCHELLE SWEET

Steven was appointed as Senior Pastor of Manchaca UMC in June 2006. Prior to entering pastoral ministry Steven worked professionally for fifteen years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He served in both clinical and administrative positions as well as maintaining a private practice. Steven and his wife attended Tarrytown UMC before entering full time service to the church. While attending Perkins School of Theology he served as a local pastor at Bertram UMC. After seminary Steven served as Associate Pastor at Tarrytown UMC, Senior Pastor at Wimberley UMC, and Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church of Edinburg, TX.

Steven holds the following degrees: B.S. (Bachelor of Science), M.Ed. (Master of Education), M.Div. (Master of Divinity), and D.Min. (Doctor of Ministry). Steven is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Child Care Administrator and has been recognized as a Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy Association. He has served on the Austin District Committee on Ordained Ministry, Austin District Superintendency Committee, Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, Board of Directors for the Rio Grande Campus Ministry, and the New Braunfels Hospice Ethics Committee.

Steven is married to Rochelle, who treasures her Cajun heritage: she values cooking, lively laughter, and upbeat music. Rochelle is a hill country artist of some note. Steven and Rochelle have two grown sons. Steven says, "Perhaps there is no sweeter music to be heard than laughter in the hallways of a church."

The CCC Sunday School Class and the Serendipity Sunday School Class are planning activities to support Chad Carson and his family  through these difficult times.  You can keep track of the latest news and opportunities at
