Sierra Vista is a congregation that feels strongly about being a warm and welcoming community of faith.  Sierra Vista is made up of people of all ages and backgrounds who are gathered together for the purposes of growing as disciples of Jesus Christ and serving others. 

Sierra Vista is open to new friends of all kinds:  

• those who have a church background, but who have not been active in church for a long time or have not been to church for a while 

• those who do not really have a church background, but who are interested in learning more about Christianity and the life of the church 

• those who have a membership in another United Methodist congregation or a church of another denomination who are looking for a new church home 

Come join with us as we seek to grow together in our journey of faith. 

INTRODUCTION CLASS FOR VISITORS AND NEW MEMBERS
An “introduction” class for visitors and new members begins the first Sunday of each month.. The class meets during the Sunday school hour, 9:45-10:45 am, in room 208 (upstairs in the life center). This is a 4 or 5 week course, depending on how many Sundays are in the month..  Each session is a stand alone session.  Sessions do not have to  be taken in sequence or any specific order.  Participants can begin any Sunday of the month.  More information can be found by clicking on the link below.

Remembering Where We Are From: Remembering Who We Are

Our faith focus for 2013 is “remembering where we are from and remembering who we are.”  In 2013, we will consider both our history and our identity.  We will reflect on our history, individually and collectively, and our identity rooted in faith and family.

I hope this year will provide an appreciation for where we are from: the good, the bad and the ugly.  Yes, all of this can be a means by which we can live in gratitude and grace.  I hope that we will solidify an identity that is not determined by our past, not limited by self-esteem and not controlled by culture, but, an identity in which our very being is rooted in God.

We have a spiritual heritage and we are given an identity: the people of God.  I look forward to us exploring this faith focus together.
